What I’ve Read In March
Well, again I’ve had a bad book month. I’ve found it hard to find a book to really get into. I started the Luminaries by Eleanor Catton but I have the hardback cover and I am finding it so difficult to read! So I have given up temporarily.
So then I started The Hundred Year Old Man who climbed out of a window and disappeared by Jonas Johansson and I am really enjoying it! This is a book that I tried to read a few months ago funnily enough but then I couldn’t get into it. This time I started reading it purely by chance and was hooked.
The book starts with Alan, on his 100th Birthday, escaping out of the window of the care home where he lives. He escapes and starts a journey that goes from one escapade to another. Throughout the book is Alan’s life story so you have an idea what led to his window escape. This book is refreshing, funny and easy to read. It is sometimes so nonsensical you can’t help to feel compelled to read more. I love the style of this book and the way the narrative runs away with itself; it is as random as Alan and his desire to escape. I would definitely recommend this book, it is not like other books I have read recently and was a real refreshing change from what I’d normally choose to read.
So this is my update for the month. I am hoping April is calmer so I can get back to reading a few more books.
I am going to try the Luminaries again, wish me luck!
