Why I love Christmas and don’t care it’s November

Christmas isn’t just for Christmas…..

I used to be one of those people. Thinking it was too soon. (I’ve always loved playing christmas music in my car by mid-November though).

However I’ve had a change of heart.

I love christmas. I love the run up to it, festive feelings,  food, music, happy times. I love buying presents and seeing my family.  It’s a special time.

I like November. I love bonfire night but after that, it’s all about Christmas. I don’t mean I decorate my tree, but I love a look around the range or other shops with their christmas sections and decorations. I love watching christmas films and the odd cheeky mince pie. It’s just a good feeling.

I think I’ve become more relaxed about christmas due to some of the sad things that have happened such as family members passing away. You realise that living in the moment is a necessity, that the future doesn’t exist.

If you like something, then like it. Our dear family friend Shirley would have been ramping up her christmas celebrations already. She loved it unequivocally. It makes me smile to think about it.

I sometimes see christmas lights up early and yes I do think ‘why on earth would you do that’ but now I also know that some of these people may not just be christmas crazy, but may be trying to enjoy christmas a little early to be with a loved one, maybe for the last time. Like we will do with my Grandad, who sadly has terminal cancer. We hope he will make it to Christmas but we will celebrate Christmas with him to put a smile on his face and for us all to be together. Mind you he would probably moan about the Christmas lights being on for so long.

There has been so much negativity this year,  so much hate and vitriol and anger. I just love the escape that christmas can bring. It is my self help therapy in a way. So I don’t care if its November. If it makes you happy, do it.

I can’t wait for christmas and I’m going to buy presents and decorations, listen to my christmas cd in the car and eat mince pies all the way to 25th December.

Merry Christmas!
