June has been a particuarly stressful month and therefore I haven’t been able to read as much as I’d like, but at least I have read two! I had to finish my dissertation so for the first two weeks of June nothing else existed! I am quite a bit behind on my Goodreads 2014 Challenge so I’m hoping I can squeeze a few more books in, in July!
The Forgotten Daughter by Renita D’Silva
I read this as part of the Bhalsen Book Club. It was May’s book but I was behind! I really liked this book and found it really interesting. The book starts when the main character finds out she has been adopted, but she finds out in her parents will. She has so many questions and little information and goes to find her past in India where she was born. The story also tells things from the perspective of other characters in the book, through diary entries and first person narrative. I loved the structure and the style of the book. The book really conjures up India and there are even recipes in the book which sound amazing. I liked the book and the story, i found it a really god read. My full review is here.
Sealed with a kiss, Rachael Lucas
This is this months book for Bahlsen Book Club.
Kate is dumped by her dull boyfriend Ian and so takes a job on a remote Scottish Island as a ‘girl friday’ to Roderick, the Islands Laird. Kate meets and makes friends on the island and has an attraction to Roderick but when his ex Fiona arrives on the island she’s keen to keep them apart. This is a lovely book, easy to read and sweeps you up into a dream of moving to a remote Scottish Island and living in a gorgeous cottage. My full review of this book is here.
Insurgent by Victoria Roth
I have started to read insurgent this month but have had to stop as I was just not enjoying it! It seems much cheesier than divergent and I was struggling to get into it. So this is something I am going to come back to next month.
This month I would recommend Sealed with a Kiss as it was a lovely easy read which was just what I needed after my stressful start to the month!
What have you been reading this month?
