My Nan – Prose for Thought

My Nan

I missed you today
I sang the songs you used to sing
Whilst I rocked and swayed

I wish that you could see her
With bright blue deep sea eyes
You’d love her golden hair
Her smile so wide
Her dainty fingers holding tight

You’d eat her up for dinner
Hug her very tight
Jig her on your knee
You would have been
so proud of me

Words suspend the time
Worn like stone upon the shore
Passed on down the line
For me to sing to baby mine
Your love will last forever more

I hear you singing softly
Welsh words washing
Over me
I wish you were here; wipe away tears
I sing the songs that keep you near

I missed you today

Another fantastic poem, you write so well! Isn’t it sad, when those we love can’t hold our babies? I miss my grandmother too, we named my daughter after her.
